Diagnostics & MedTech

The Diagnostics & MedTech network remains, for now, a forum for discussion and information flow. 

The NHSA is actively creating links (such as with the UKRI Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) / Innovation Agency co-led North West HealthTec Cluster, Diagnostics North East, and the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative, amongst others) and is advocating for the northern diagnostics capability in our quarterly meetings with NIHR National Institute for Healthcare Research, Medical Research Council, Office for Life Sciences, BSIT and others.  

There is an obvious critical mass of excellence in this area across the North and there remains enormous, but as yet unrealised, potential for collaborative working. 

The NHSA has delivered: 

• An invitation-only pan-northern Diagnostics Summit, held in July 2022 in Manchester, in collaboration with UKRI STFC.  
• Signposting of clinically relevant companies to member organisations 
• Positioning the network, with the Diagnostics and MedTech Opportunity Area, prominently in the Superclusters proposal to government
